Why MOPS?

Why I am thankful for MOPS...

I am so thankful for MOPS because where else can you eat ham & chocolate cookies while discussing in detail your episiotomy scar, how tough your nipples are now, and how long it’s been since you shaved your legs – all while nursing your newborn in your pj’s and with no shower today? ♥ ♥ ♥ –Jenni

I get to meet other moms that are going through the same as I. [Als0] get a little break. The learning experience. –Lauren

The chance to get a little “me” time to be around other mothers that can relate to the every day things of motherhood. –Amy

I am thankful because I get friendship and fellowship. I learn neat new “homemaker” tricks. I get biblical principals that I can apply to daily life as a mom. –Renee

I am thankful for MOPS because I meet new friends and I feel loved and wanted.

-Tasha

Nine years ago, I moved to a new area, as a brand new, first time mom. MOPS was a life saver for me. It became a place where I could go for encouragement, advice, and new friendships…a place where I fit in. And eventually a place where I could serve and use/grow my talents. I love my MOPS/mommy support group! I’m sad that this is my last year, but I am taking away so many great memories and lasting friendships. –Julie

It’s a place where I can come and relax from all the cleaning and housework. It helps me to learn new things about being a mom, meeting new people and making new friends. –Lacy

I am thankful for MOPS, for the interaction with other moms. I also enjoy the variety of activities conducted each session. –Patty

A night out and the fellowship. Being able to talk to other moms about stuff that is going on. –Christine

It’s nice to have a place where I can get away from the children and eat supper (without preparing it) most of the time. :) –Jenelle

Friendship! To know I am not alone as a mother who has meltdowns with my kids. Lol –Sandra

For the adult conversation, sharing my joys and trials with other moms going through the same thing. The food: There are some wonderful cooks here! Making friends! Being inspired and encouraged. –Amber

It’s a lot of fun! I am thankful for MOPS because I like being open about our home life and topics about how we handle certain situations about our kids at home or opinions about it. I like donating crafts to people in need, too! –Amy

Thankful to have a couple nights a month to have wonderful fellowship, food and fun with other moms. Thankful for MOPS where my younger kids can have another opportunity to have fun with other kids in Moppets. –Mary

It gives me new friends. My kids love playing and visiting and meeting new kids. There are always moms with good advice. –Shannon

I now have an amazing group of friends and an amazing support group. I’m thankful to have a group of women that I can relate to. I’m also thankful for MOPS bringing me closer to God. –Dorothy

All the great moms who have now become friends. Time away to relax and have a good time with other moms. –Ashley

It’s time away from my daughter and husband. I love the fellowship with all the ladies. –Misty

I enjoy being able to talk to my friends without kids. I also enjoy meeting new friends! –Jackie

I’m thankful for MOPS because of all the people I’m around. I have friendship and my spirits are lifted every time I’m here. I love this place! –Krystal

Moppets Draft - What is it?

Lebanon MOPS has strived to ensure complete coverage of our MOPPETS so that no mom has to do a rotation in MOPPETS.
Though we pray for continued growth in our volunteer base, the Steering Team has implemented the MOPPETS DRAFT to ensure complete coverage in MOPPETS. We know the importance of quality childcare and hope that you are all willing to do your part in sustaining the Moppets program.
The MOPPETS Draft Program works as follows:
1. All moms who have a child in our MOPPET program will have their name put in a bowl - this rotation will be called THE FIRST DRAFT. (Please note this does not include moms who do NOT have a child in MOPPETS - so if you can find alternative childcare it would be a bonus as you would have your name taken out of the Draft)
2.You may receive an email if we know in advance the number of volunteers needed to cover the next meeting. This will allow anyone who knows of a volunteer to get in contact with Tana or Tonya to get a particular spot covered. If you provide a person(age 16+) to work a spot in one of our meetings, your name will be taken out of "The First Draft".
3.If any mom wishing to go ahead and volunteer to get their spot out of the way, they are free to do so and their name will be taken out of the "First Draft."
4.If anyone provides a volunteer (age 16+) that can cover all of our meetings their name will be taken out of not only our "First Draft" but any subsequent Draft needed.
5.Before each meeting we will determine what our need is to fill MOPPET volunteer spots. If we determine there is a need, we will draw names from the fish bowl for coverage. For example, if one Moppets worker calls in sick the
morning of our meeting then we will draw the names of two mothers in our meeting. One mother will work from 6 -7 and then the second mother will work from 7 -8. This will ensure no mom misses an entire meeting. Any mother who has to work will get some benefit out of the meeting.
6. If the year progresses and we run out of names in our bowl, we will then put all of the names back in for "The Second Draft" and the process will begin again.

While this is nowhere near a perfect system, the Steering Team has prayed that it will be acceptable to all and more importantly we won't have to utilize it. We are constantly looking for and speaking with possible volunteers or those individuals who can help us find volunteers.

If you as a member of our MOPS group find yourself having to take your turn in MOPPETS, please remember John 13:4-5, 12-17: "So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel he had around him... After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked "Do you understand what I was doing? You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord' and you are right, because it is true. And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. How true it is that a servant is not greater than the master. Nor are messengers more important than the one who sends them. You know these things - now do them! That is the path of blessing."
In our MOPS group we hope that each one of you finds the support that is needed. In that, please know that sometimes you are called on to support your fellow MOPS Moms as well and that sacrifice is something we take very seriously.

If you have any questions regarding the Moppets Draft program, please feel free contact Tana Appleby or Tonya Soum.

Our New MOPS Theme for 2013/14

Moms live in messes. The toys, crumbs, and spit-up are their natural surroundings. Moms often feel like a mess. They are exhausted, under-showered, and hormonal. Their past and present circumstances and decisions can leave them feeling inadequate for God’s love and purposes. A Beautiful Mess — reminds moms that beauty can come out of their difficult spots. The grime of mothering young children brings the beauty of motherhood. The bruises of life can bring God’s redemption. Embrace Your Story — reminds moms that their past, present and future can be used for good. God knows where each of us has been, where we are today and has set in motion where we are headed.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Tea & Testimony

Every year MOPS has a Tea & Testimony Night, which is basically a fancy tea party where some Mom's share their testimony. Always a fun night. Its fun to dress up for a change. And the testimonies bless our hearts.

This year, we'll be going along with the "Plunge" theme...so think elegant beach party.
A night of Praise, Joy, & Love... Or as the hawaiians would say it Paipai Ka'ana Aloha.

Tuesday, March 19th. 6pm - 8pm.

We will celebrate MOPS, and the impact it has had on our lives.
Several moms will share short testimonies. Luau-themed food will be brought by the members of Beach Blanket Beauties and Starfish Sweeties.

We will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall for this meeting instead of the regular mops room.
And as always, free childcare provided.

So dress up, throw on some lipstick, and join us for another great MOPS event. (high heels optional ;)

Jan. 22nd: Sacred Parenting/Craft

This Tuesday we will continue with our short Sacred Parenting study, followed by a glass painting craft.
We will provide one glass “cup” per mom, as well as providing the paint pens to decorate them. You are more than welcome to bring a couple glasses from home to decorate as well, or a vase, glass frame, etc. The possibilities are endless!

The following tables are providing food:
Mermaid Mamas (Brenda’s table) and Coral Reef Cuties (Coral’s table). The food theme is SUPER BOWL!

Bonus points:
To receive extra points, with the Super Bowl in mind, dress up in any football jersey along with sweat pants and black under your eye. Or you may dress as a cheer leader (complete with pig tails and pom poms…get creative with homemade!)

The Memory Verse: 1 Peter 3:8

We will also start Trash to Treasure this meeting! Please bring a few of your gently used items that you no longer have a use for, so that another mom in the group that has a need for it, can take it home.

See you Tuesday!
